The Business Account Package Policy (BAPP) meets the business insurance
needs of the small to medium size businesses.
Property Coverage
Property coverage provides protection for Buildings, Business Personal Property,
and loss of Business Income.
- Building and Business Personal Property is written on a Replacement
Cost (RC) basis. Actual Cash Value (ACV) is an available option.
- Several deductible options are available.
- There is no coinsurance provision, but we expect 100% of the values
to be insured.
- Coverage is written on a blanket limit basis per location.
- Coverage for glass, signs, and radio and television antennas is included.
- Business Personal Property includes property of others and fine arts.
Tenants are covered for glass, building theft damage and signs. Coverage
included for tenant’s improvements and betterments.
- Business income coverage is provided for a period up to 12 months
and includes a 30 day extended period of indemnity.
General Liability Coverage
Liability protection is provided and covers the insured’s legal obligations
for defined bodily injury and property damage to a third party arising
out of the operation of the insured’s business, independent contractors,
contracts, products, and completed operations.
Eligibility Requirements
- Eligible Classes: Some classes of business will require supplemental
applications, provided the risk does not have exposures that make it
ineligible. When the insured has multiple eligible classes at a location,
use the class that derives the most receipts at that location.
- Maximum Value: The maximum eligible value for building is $6,000,000
per location. The maximum eligible Business Personal Property value
is $3,000,000 per location. 100% insurance-to-value is required since
no coinsurance clause applies.
- Occupancy: Office buildings and shopping centers are eligible as lessors’
risks even if they have occupants not listed in the BAPP risk classification
section, however, eligibility may need to be manually reviewed based
on actual business site risks. For example, office buildings or shopping
centers with a restaurant exposure may be eligible even though all restaurants
are not within BAPP. All other buildings must meet the eligibility requirements.
- Square Footage: No square footage limitations apply except:
The state of Maine restricts maximum square footage to 10,000. In all
states, grocery stores are limited to not more than 10,000 square feet,
including storage.
- Building Age: Buildings more than 25 years old are eligible provided
the insured confirms that the building has had new or refurbished wiring
and roofing in the last 25 years.
- Burglar Alarm: CNA requires burglary alarm protection for certain
risk classes when the contents or stock values exceed $300,000.
Professional Liability Coverage
CNA does not write Professional Liability under the BAPP program
except for druggists, morticians, barbers, beauticians, and veterinarians.
Printer’s Errors and Omissions coverage is also available.
NOTE: A professional services exclusion applies under both the BAPP
Business Liability Coverage Form and BAPP Umbrella Coverage Endorsement.
Umbrella Endorsement - Requirements
CNA representatives may bind Umbrella limits of $1,000,000. Requests
for higher limits must be referred to and approved by a CNA underwriter.
Umbrella limits up to $5 million are available.
A minimum self-insured retention of $10,000 applies ($25,000 in TX).
All Primary coverage (except WC and Employers Liability) must be written
by one of the CNA Insurance Companies as voluntary business. The Umbrella
Endorsement does not provide excess WC coverage.
If CNA is not the primary carrier for the General Liability coverage,
we are unable to service your request via the internet at this point
in time. Please contact the CNA Risk Management, Umbrella and Excess
Divisions at (312) 822-5000 and someone will be happy to assist you.
